My Story
Hi, I'm Isabelle!
I'm a Vancouver-based artist, designer, and recent BFA graduate from the University of British Columbia. While art has always been an important part of my life, there's a lot more to me than what you see in my portfolio.
I grew up in Vancouver and come from a Filipino family, so family, food, travel, and a strong sense of community have always been a big part of my life. I've always loved experiencing new places and learning about different cultures. I've been fortunate enough to visit 22 countries and counting. I especially love wandering through unfamiliar cities, discovering local food, photographing the little details, and seeing how people live and create in different parts of the world.
Outside of my creative work, I'm a big fan of being active and spending time outdoors. Running has become one of my favourite ways to challenge myself and clear my head, and recently completing the BMO Vancouver Half Marathon was a rewarding milestone after months of training. A lot of my free time is also spent with family and friends, and of course, my dog, who is almost always by my side.
Lately, I’ve also been getting into sewing and making some of my own clothes. Fashion has always played a big role in how I express myself, so I've really enjoyed learning how to create pieces that feel personal to me. I’ve really enjoyed learning as I go and experimenting with different ways of bringing my artwork into what I wear, including painting directly onto garments. It’s been a fun way to explore creativity through something I interact with every day.
I'm always looking for something new to learn or try, and I think that's one of the things I enjoy most about life. Whether I'm travelling, running, sewing, making art, or just spending time with the people I love, I like keeping busy, staying curious, and finding little things to be excited about.
Thanks for taking the time to get to know me beyond my work. I hope this gave you a little glimpse into the person behind the portfolio!
